Taking Care of the Printz Cemetery in Virginia

The day I first saw the Printz family gravesite in Page County, Virginia was one of the most special days of my life. Seeing where my Prince family ancestors who came from Germany to America, were buried was a big part of it. Another unforgettable part was being tour-guided there with Charles Printz Sr., who wrote the authoritative book on our family line, Into the Valley: A History of ...

Capt. George Printz House Destroyed by Fire

Posted by Victor Prince on July 31, 2017 at 10:10 PM

I have to report heartbreaking news I recently received from one our our distant Prince/Printz family who still lives in Virginia. The house in Stony Man, Page County, Virginia that Captain George Printz (1742-1834) lived in was recently destroyed by a fire. That house had been in the Printz/Prince family at least into the 1950s or so, I think, based on my memories from my conversations with the late Charles Printz, Sr..

Captain George Printz at Valley Forge?

Posted by Victor Prince on February 5, 2011 at 8:40 PM

Charles Printz noted in the book that: "George was also found on a list, dated Baltimore, MD, July 29, 1778, on General Nelson's Corps of Light Dragoons.  Whether the Virginia Militia was a part of this group or not, has not been ascertained.  George's name is enscribed on a brass plate at the Valley Forge Memorial Bell Tower dedicated by the NSDAR to patriots of the Revolutionary War."

I just found some new information that might help more directly connect George ...

Printz and Prince Reunion

Posted by princefamilyhistory on April 29, 2008 at 9:10 AM

My mom and dad and I had a wonderful visit in April 2008 with Charles Printz and Jean Printz.  Both Charles and Jean are descendants of Captain George Printz.  My dad and I are descendants of George's brother, Cutlip (also a Revolutionary War veteran.)  Jean was one of the last Printz family members to spend time on Captain George Printz's home in Stony Man, Virginia, as her uncle Lorenzo Printz was the last Printz to live in that house.  I added a couple of pictures at th...

Family History Trip - Update

Posted by princefamilyhistory on February 13, 2008 at 5:45 PM

Charles Printz and I are going to Charlottesville to visit with Jean Printz, a distant relative who has a lot of family history.  We have to move our trip back by about a month though.  I am very excited by the trip though, as Jean was one of the last members of the family to live in Captain George Printz's house in Stony Man, Virginia.  I am hoping she has things like the Printz family bible and other historical things.  If so, I will photograph or scan whatever I ca...
