Born to Clifford Alphoeus Printz II & Yvette G Boeck in 1950. Dad's parents: Clifford A Printz & Willie Wood. Dad's paternal grandparents: Hiram Lewellyn Printz and Emma C Reamer. Dad's paternal great grandparents: Leonard S Printz & Nancy Seal. This is as far back as I can find. I understand that Leonard S Printz was a land owner in Virginia. After reading what I could on this site (I'm still looking), I could not find any of these relatives. Also, from relative hearsay, there may be some American Indian marriages. I do know that Hiram Lewellyn Printz served as a drummer boy in the Confederate Army during the Civil War and were land owners in Kansas. Maybe I'm not related, but have enjoyed this website. Thank you.

Dear Charles,

It was a pleasure and an honor knowing you. Thank you for your service to our country, and thank you for your dedication and service to our Family History.

I will always remember our visits to the family homesteads in Printztown, our talks about business, birds, motorcycles, cows, gardening, canning, and WWII.

You will be happy to know that I finally met your children, Chaz and Mary Beth, and your grandson Matt and his wife. They are all lovely people and I fully intend to stay in touch with the family.

Your legacy is a gift to many, but especially to everyone in our family tree for all time.

Love always,
~ your (not so) distant cousin ~

I was sorry to receive the news about the death of Charles F. Printz on September 30, 2011. I expressed my appreciation for such a wonderful man on the Funeral Home Guestbook.
I joined this Blog in August 2011 and made a Post but have never seen it appear on the Blog. This Website motivated me to pursue futher information about our "Immigrant Ancestor" who moved from Germany to Luray, Virginia. Philip Somer and his wife Susanna had a son Joshua ( 1782-1841) who is our family relative. He and his wife, Lytha Judd, moved to Northeastern Indiana in 1840.. His sister, Barbara Somers, married George Printz, Jr. (1785-1858) on June 25, 1811. They raised a large family in Luray and became part of the remarkable legacy of the Printz Family. It is an honor to be related to the Printz Family ! I very much want to learn information about Philip Somer, both his life in Luray and membership in the Hawksbill Church, and discover the area in Germany he emigrated from to the Virginia Colony. ANY assistance would be gratefully received and appreciated and I will certainly share any information about the Somer/Somers/Summers Family that would be helpful. THANK YOU, Jeffrey R. Somers, jrhsomers@msn.com

Please thank Charles for me. I belong to the Levi Lucas and Ellen Printz line. I must defer to Charles' spelling. He has earned it.

I have spent the last two years stealing away spare minutes and hours searching for my ancestors. Even with the advantage of an inheritance of someone else's twenty years research and the leverage of internet accessible, indexed census tables, I was not able to identify persons who lived before 1830. The research Charles has shared has allowed me to finally link my ancestors with the patriots of Colonial America.

My intent when I began my own research was selfish. I wanted to know whether I had an historical inheritance. With each discovery, however, I found a greater fulfillment in sharing discovered history. I found that the value of the genealogical research was in the sense of community and social linkage it formed. This work, published here, shared to all, that you have produced is such a great gift to all of us. Its greatness isn't just an enscribed name on a Valley Forge Bell but in the sense of shared heritage it allows us all.

I have a greater sense of shared ownership in my nation. It is an unfamiliar but inspiring conception. Thank you Charles and Victor.

Hi. I'm looking for information on Gertrude Printz from Germany. Her father was a Peter Printz. She married Theodore Koenig (konig) who was also from Germany. This is my great grandparents and I have been having a hard time finding anything out about them. I know that they came from Germany and lived in Chester, PA which is where my grandfather Peter Koenig was born. But he passed away when my father was young and my great grandparents passed away we think before my grandfather married my grandmother. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail address is tkoenig31@yahoo.com. Thanks Theresa

Hi. I found your site while searching for information on Annie L. Printz. She married John H. Arbogast and she passed away in 1943. I have not found much except for her obituary in a Page Co. Paper. Do you have any information that you would be willing to share on Ms. Annie Printz (or any information at all?) with me? If you do would you please email it to me at trinni3180@hotmail.com ? Thanks

I just visited with Charles Printz, the author of the book on this family line, last week (I try to get out to WV to visit him at least once a year). He turns 95 next month (mid July) and is doing great I would like to surprise him and have people from this family tree send him a birthday card (or just a postcard) letting him know how much they appreciate his research on the family. He is at PO Box 1647, Shepherdstown WV 25443 if you want to send him a note for his 95th birthday. - Thanks, Victor Prince

I cannot remember if I signed the guest book. I have enjoyed looking for the
family, and others as well. Gee I'll have to find the note book and see
what the given name was. Oh! Henrietta Prince married Francis Aldridge.
I don't have dates either. Yes, I am elderly and forgetful....But I still get up
and love to see the sun and blue skies. I try to remember to thank God.
Thank you to Charles who has made some of this possible. I am tickled.

My grandmother was Minnie Pearl Prince born in Tennessee in 1905 died with burial in 1994 as Minnie Pearl Prince Whitworth in Flintville, Tennessee. Do you have any information on Prince families in Southern Tennessee or Northern Alabama? Name Oliver, Henderson, John Wesley, Hosea, Will Monore, Will, Pete Prince just to name a few of the Prince family in the South. Would like to know if we can find any connection?...

P. Jacob Brentz is the first ancestor in the Brentz/Printz/Prince line in the book and he dates from the 1600s in Germany. Before then, records are pretty spotty because wars in Europe before then wiped out records. If you have any information from before then, we would definitely love to hear about it. See the info below for what we have. -- Victor Prince

The first located Brentz was P. Jacob Brentz, a
"schuldieners" (school attendant) of Althausen,
Mergentheim, Wuerttemberg. His wife's name was
Maria. Their son, Hans Melchior Brentz, became
a cloth maker and woolen weaver. He married in
1669 in Clever-Sulzback, Wuerttemberg, to Anna
Dorothea Wolfhardt, daughter of Pfarrer
(Pastor) George Johann Wolfhardt and his second
wife, Anna Burckhardt. Anna Dorothea was born
in Sinsheim in 1646. Their first child of Hans
and Anna Dorothea was born in Althausen. They
moved to Duehren(l) about 1672 where the
remainder of their children were born. Their
next child was born in 1674 and apparently
Johann Heinrich the father of Johann Philipp
was also born in Duehren. In 1687, they
occupied a two-story house and had 16.25 acres
of farmland. Nothing further is known about the
house and farm. Johann Philipp Brentz, the son
of Johann Heinrich, and grandson of Hans
Melchoir Brentz, emigrated to the colonies,
arriving at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in
September, 1751.

I am a descendant from Godfrey Printz, father was Jacob Printz, mother was Elizabeth Prince, father was Francis Sturgeon, father was Charles Sturgeon who was my great grandfather. I find this so interesting. I ended today with Johann Philip Brentz as father of Godfrey which adds another generation to my "tree". Thanks.
